August 26, 2011- Helena, MT
To promote the show tonight I arrived on the Carroll College campus this afternoon to do street magic at their Back to School Block Party. Some enterprising students had used rolls and rolls of black construction plastic, a hose, and a few bottles of dish detergent for lubricant to turn a hill on campus into the world’s largest slip-and-slide. A band played, people grilled burgers and brats, and hundreds of college students hurtled themselves down this hill and then got in line to do it again. And again. It looked amazing.
The street magic went really well (after doing some magic for the band during a break between sets they quickly wrote a “Magician” song and played it for everyone) and as a result of all of this we had to delay the start time of the show tonight by almost 30 minutes to find chairs for the huge group that turned up for the performance. Running out of chairs is always a good sign.
The show itself was a blast. Maybe my favorite of the tour so far. Carroll College, thank you. If this keeps up the Fall 2011 college tour may be my favorite tour of all time. Things are going off here.
Off to Powell, WY tomorrow. More then.
